I love little boys, BUT CUB SCOUTS!!

Ok all, the church has officially lost it. I am now, being married for one month and only being in a family ward for two Sunday's, the Second Councilor in the Primary presidency! Now, if that was enough to have to take a deep breath the second councilor is in charge of cub scouting. WHO IN THE WORLD THOUGHT I WOULD BE GOOD AT CUB SCOUTING?!! Beads, bandannas, wolf, bear, WHAT THE!!! The only thing I know about girl scouts or cub scouts is from the movie "Troup Beverly Hills". It goes a little something like this, "Patches! Patches! We don't need no stinkin patches!! " I don't think that is going to get me very far. Oh little cub scouts, be sweet to little Meg in her moments of pure insanity and confusion when it comes to how you have to hold your fingers or wear your scarf or put your little beads! I SWEAR one day I will get it!!

He is preparing you for all boys! The boys love you, you are so fun, and crazy. You will do great, just make sure you get a great den mom, and great cub leaders. That will make you job so much easier. And tell ol Deano to help you learn it all!

Just get a great Cub Master and Committee Chair and let them run with it. Then you just sit back and attend the pack meetings once a month. Just got done being 2nd Counselor... it's not too bad. That being said. I have 4 boys so I am stuck with it for the rest of my life!!! AND I just got called as Pres. kids Kids KIDS!!! ;)

Oh, how I love Troop Beverly Hills... "In the jungle, the mighty jungle..." Lucky you, Meg. I have to say that I don't envy you, but I do think you will be great...

You will love this calling. Trust me you have the best part of cub scouts. You get to be there to encourage, love and have fun with the boys with out too much stress. I love how boys this age are so eager to do good if they are pointed in the right direction. They are right on the cusp of receiving the priesthood. It is our responsibility to build their testimonies so that they have a rock solid foundation. These boys are learning how to keep their baptismal covenants and to be like the Savior. Through scouting and sharing times you can teach them how to apply scripture principals into daily life. Especially in Scouting! Our Stake Primary President told us once that it is your responsibility as Primary leaders that "we stand in the Lords place. The children should be able to know the Savior loves them because they saw it in your eyes and felt it in your touch and heard it in your words." I have always thought that the most special place to serve is in the primary. You can help the children to feel the truth and love. They are truly a Child of God. And you have the privilege of helping them to really know that. Congratulations on your new calling I am so excited for you and even more excited for the primary children in your ward they are so lucky to have someone as amazing as you. I have always said that the children bless me more then I am sure I have ever blessed them.

Hi, Whitney Stewart here. Stumbled across your blog and had to say hello. This post made me laugh because I was called as 2nd counselor about the same time as you. I've remained ignorant about scouting for as long as possible, but I guess that time is past. It's been a few months now, and I'm still not sure I know what's going on...

You look really happy! Good to "see" you.
